Tuppawear Nightmare - How to go plastic free

Okay so I’ve always been a lover of Tupperware, don’t ask me why, I just like organised storage! But, with plastic containers it only seems like a matter of weeks before the lids have gone missing or they have some sort of nasty stain that wont come out. This kind of defeats the purpose of having reusable tubs, as they aren’t lasting as long as they should.

So, when I moved into my new hobbit hole last year I decided to find some alternatives and I’ve hit the jackpot…

GLASS JARS

You can store everything in these, they look nice and will last forever! I like to make my own jam which are perfect for glass jars as well as all my seeds and super food powders for smoothies!

If you live near the range then you need to get yourself down there and see their glass jar storage selection, there is a jar for just about everything you could imagine! They sell their own branded jars and Kilner, for a fraction of the normal price!

BEESWAX WRAP

Beeswax wrap is a great alternative to clingfilm and can be re-used over and over again because it’s washable, reusable and compostable!

Bees wax wrap is available from loads of different companies, or have a go at making your own like I did!

WASHABLE PAPER BAGS

Another great alternative to Tupperware when on the go is washable paper bags! I found Warm Grey Company on Etsy last year and their stuff is amazing. Based in Scotland and with SO many different storage solutions you have to check them out!

The designer is super friendly, helpful and can make custom designs (I recently purchased some custom made paper hanging baskets for my plants).

Washable Paper is made from 100% cellulose fibre through forest cultivation. It’s green and sustainable material for kind lifestyle choice. Convert your space with these functional design objects. Ethical and earthfriendly approach starts with our design inspiration from nature, then sourcing our materials as locally as possible and zero waste production to offer you unique handcrafted products.

STAINLESS STEEL LUNCH BOXES

I recently purchased some stainless steel lunch boxes to replace my plastic ones (which I now use as dog bowls for on the go and a herb garden in the making) and I use them all the time! Not only are they good for taking food out and about but I use them at home for storage too.

These ones in particular are from Elephant Box and are my favourite go to lunch boxes! They are available through my store!

Stainless Steel Bowls

Stainless steel bowls with lids are a bakers dream! I own a set from Papered Chef and they are amazing for baking, keeping salads fresh and seasoning veg. These particular ones aren’t available in the UK anymore but there is loads available from different brands and price points.

These will last years and have so many uses, you will find yourself using them all the time whilst freeing up space in your kitchen!

These are just a few ideas for plastic free storage at home and with loads of options out there, it’s one of the easiest places to start! Do you have anything you swear by already? Let me know in the comments as I would love to hear!
