HAECKELS LEMON BALM INCENSE CONES

These wooden incense cones fill your home and space with the scent of fresh lemongrass.

Lemon Balm grows to 70–150 cm tall with oil-rich leaves that a gentle lemon fragrance will come off onto your hands when crushed. Melissa officinalis is in the mint family of Lamiaceae which reflects this high oil content and naturally fragrant quality. The white summer flowers attract bees, hence the genus name Melissa (Greek for ‘honey bee’) whilst high doses of purified lemon balm extracts have been found to be effective in the relief of stress, producing increased calmness and reduced alertness.

STOCK STATUS
  • "Honesty is what drives Haeckels forward. It’s the transparency of our journey that allows our community and collaborators to connect with us. We are a self-financed tiny giant. Every member of our team plays multiple roles – formulating, making, designing, photographing, programming, planning and installing – leading to the impression of a company many times our actual size.

This wasn’t planned: it arose from a desire to share Haeckels with other people; to enthuse them about the health-giving properties of the sea; to raise awareness about natural products that are every bit as effective as chemical-derived alternatives.

Seaweed hydrates; it’s rich with valuable vitamins, minerals and amino acids; it’s anti-bacterial, skin rebuilding and anti-inflammatory; it’s all-natural, and all around us. Under licence, we harvest it by hand from the beach just steps away from our shop.

We live and learn together. Our affiliated lab carries out full assessment and stability tests, but before that our products go through an honest, real-world formulation trial. We use them ourselves, comparing, collaborating and re-examining until we discover the perfect solution.

Sharing extends to everything we do, including our concerns not only for our local coastline but oceans across the globe. Sustainability has always been part of Haeckels’ philosophy and, as we’ve developed as a brand, it has only become more and more entwined with what we do; as we branch out into new territories, we strive to implement the same care we have in our home town of Margate, and raise the same awareness about the fragility and value of the ocean."

  • MYCELIUM

Mycelium is the root system of mushrooms (fungi) and is usually found underground where its tiny white threads weave together. Within our packaging, these threads intertwine with agricultural waste such as sawdust, flax and hemp husks and are left to grow around a mould for a period of time. Once the whole mould has turned white it means that the Mycelium has fully encompassed the form and is acting like glue. It is then removed from the mould and left to grow for an additional short period of time, so it takes on the lovely velvety texture. Once it has been dried, the final product is lightweight, yet fire and impact resistant. After being used for its intended purpose, it can be reused, composted or planted in your garden to improve soil quality.

    SEED PAPER

Our seed paper is made from recycled paper pulp mixed with wild flower seeds. When feeling green-fingered, place the paper on top of a pot of compost and water well. Make sure the paper has access to light and warmth and keep the soil moist. Once the seedlings have grown big enough, you can transfer them to your garden for the birds and bees to enjoy!
